Choosing a bath
Measure the space first. Most fitted baths are 1700 x 700mm, but sizes run from 1400mm to 1800mm long and 700mm to 800mm wide. Measure wall to wall where the bath will sit, and check the doorways and stairs it has to come through.
Fitted or freestanding. A fitted bath sits against the wall and is finished with a bath panel. A freestanding bath stands on its own and needs floor or wall mounted taps and a freestanding waste. Back to wall baths look freestanding but sit flat against one wall.
Showering over the bath. A square, P-shaped or B-shaped shower bath has a wider end, giving you more room to stand. Add a matching bath screen to keep the water in.
Single or double ended. A single ended bath has the taps and waste at one end. A double ended bath has the waste in the middle, so you can lie back at either end.
