Niamh's en-suite (PA3, 2026)

Niamh's en-suite was a tight 1.8m × 1.8m room in a timber kit home. In a space that size, every centimetre has to earn its place. We fitted:

• a 900mm quadrant shower on a slimline tray, with a brushed brass concealed thermostatic valve and a round rain head
• LED-lit niches built into the boxed-in pipework, so the boxing became storage
• a rimless back-to-wall toilet with a brushed brass flush plate
• a wall-hung oak vanity with a vessel basin and a wall-mounted brass tap
• a round LED mirror and a brushed brass towel rail
• Porcelanosa tiles on the walls and floor, a ceiling panel, downlights and a silent extractor fan

Partway through the job Niamh asked for an in-wall toothbrush charger, so we added it before the tiles went on. The fit took five working days, from 29 June to 3 July 2026, and the en-suite came to £10,110 including VAT. Niamh wrote afterwards:

Bathrooms in every type of Paisley home

Paisley is an old town, a bit like Glasgow, and the houses vary a lot from street to street. Each type is built differently behind the tiles, so we plan for it at the home visit, not halfway through the job.

• Sandstone tenements and terraces. Some go right back to the mill days. Walls and floors are rarely straight, and old pipe runs and timber floors need checking and making good before anything is tiled.
• Victorian and Edwardian villas. Big rooms and high ceilings, but often old plaster and pipework that's been patched over the years.
• 1930s and post-war houses. Usually smaller bathrooms where the layout makes all the difference.
• Timber kit homes. Like Niamh's. The walls are timber stud, so wall-hung toilets, vanities and heavy towel rails need solid fixings planned in behind the boards before the room is tiled.
